Giving

G2. Give to your family: Prepare 3 formal three course meals, including the
menu, cooking and presenting, photographs of the meal and feedback from
your guests.

First up for my entree I just made something quick and easy, camabert cheese and crackers.I choose this dish because I really had know idea what to do for a entree. To make this you buy cheese and crackers, take the wrap out of the cheese and put you cheese and crackers on a plate.

Second I made home made pasta. First I needed to make the dough which is just flour and egg. You need to need the dough for ten minutes then leave it to rest for half an hour. The you have to cut the dough up in to four bits and start to role out the pasta once you get it thin enough you can put it through the cutting piece which makes it spaghetti. While the spagetti is cooking I cook fry some spicing sausages. Once the pasta is finished I put it all together with some pesto and oil and it makes a delious dish. The reson I picked this was because I love making the pasta, as it is really fun. Also the pasta only takes to minutes to cook which is cool.

For dessert I have choosen to make a meringue tower. Which was very difficult. First I make the meringue and it is very hard because it hurts your arm from whisking it for about ten minutes. Meringues are normally white but I wanted to spice it up a little bit and I put some blue food colouring in it so it would look cooler. Then I had to put it in the oven and left it for 1 and a half hours. When it looked ready I tock it out to cool and started to make the whipped cream which was cream then I whisked it. After that I made it into a tower and I think it looked and and tasted even better. For the first meringue that I had ever made I think I did it really well. One thing that annouyed me a little was it took so long to cook.

Yesterday the satellite class moved into the temporary class in front of ours because a few months ago there classroom got burt down. In the middle block we went to meet the students in there new classroom. When we got there Bobby showed us around. There actual classroom was really cool, they had brand new furniture which was bright and colorful. When Bobby showed us his new working space he locked us in there and said that if he was outside we couldn't of hear anything he was saying so he went outside and said see you cant hear me, but actual we could hear exactly what he was saying.

The weekend

On sunday Steffanie, Brooke, Amber, Grace, Hoani, Tama, Kyle, Travis and I went to the movies to see the croods. You'll find it hard to believe but when we arrived we didn't even know what movie we were going to. There were so many on but we surprisingly we choose the croods. I never thought I would go to the croods because it was a movie for little kids. Unfortunately during the movie the people infront of us kept telling us off because we were talking and throwing maltase's around the cinemas.

The average teenager to be pregnant is 14.5%

The average teenager taking drugs is 2.9%

Teenagers going through depression is 20 % in New Zealand

99% of teenagers have cellphones in New Zealand

I think that there is way two many teenage girls getting pregnant and two many teens going through depression, but maybe there is lots of teens going through depression because they are pregnant.

Evoloution

Charles Darwin came up with the evoloution theory in 1859, he changed the peoples idea of how life on the earth was devoloped. Charles Darwin argued that the change of the animal life over time was very slow. These changes were so that the species was able to survive out in its environment. So the fittest and strongest specious is normally the won that survies the longest.

Science experiment

At year 8 camp we did a stream study. The test I did was seeing what the temperature was in three different places in the water. The places I tested were in the sun, in the dark and in the rapids.
My hypothous was I thought that the water would be a lot colder in the shadows than in the sunlight.
Also I thought it would the same temperature in the rapids and sunlight because the water is moving fast and half of it was in the sunlight. From my memory after I did the test it was 8 degrees in the sunlight, 6 degrees in the shadows and 8 degrees in the rapids. My hypothous was right and it was the same temperature in the sunlight and the rapids, also it was warmer in the sun than the shadows.

Camp

On Monday the 6th of May the year 8 students from Rimu House went up to Ngamuwahine Camp for a week. At camp there are a lot of fun activities that put you outside your comfort zone.
Something that I am proud of is I got to the top of the vertical playpen which was very challenging and your arms got really sore after because you have been using all your upper body strength to pull yourself up to the top. Believe it or not but I actually held a dead possum. I was very surprised that I did that as I dont like any creepy crawly animals. The biggest challenge that I completed was staying in the bush for a whole night and sleeping on the end right next to the opening just looking into the bush.
The tastiest meal we had was the sausages and potatoes. The funniest thing was when Sharnae went up to get me a sausage and they made a rule that to get another sausage you have to eat a piece of pumpkin and Sharnae really hates pumpkin but she still had to eat it and it wasn't even for her. Everyone on my table was laughing really hard.
