45 Minute Inquiry

A rose by any other name is a famous quote written by Shakespeare in the year 1600.
It originated from his play Romeo and Juliet. The full quote is 'a rose by any other name would smell as sweet' and that was said in act 2 scene 2 by Juliet.
'A rose by any other name' means what matters is what something is, not what it is called. Juliet said this to explain her love to Romeo and show that his name dosent matter to her. The word rose does not just mean a rose but also it mean Romeo.

In the 21st century there was a American romantic comedy loosely based on Romeo and Juliet.
